Spice Up Your Web Design With Great Graphics

Spice Up Your Web Design With Great Graphics

Before setting your heart on having some snappy images or cool animated gifs you need to ask yourself some questions.

Firstly: What Is The Aim Of Your Web Site?

You need to be very clear as to why you set up the web site in your website. It could have several different pruposes, but you need to clear just what your over riding goal is for the site.

May be it is to provide relevant information for your visitors? Or perhaps it is to pre-sell affiliate products and drive the visitors to the sales page.
Or perhaps you are directly sell you own product.

When you are sure what you objective is it becomes easier to decide whether or not graphics really are going to be helpful for your site.

Let's now look at the second question.
Are Graphics Going to Help Your Web Site Achieve it Purpose?

If the objective of your web site is just to provide information, the use of graphics could be beneficial, though not really essential. You are not trying to sell anything so you do not have to worry about distracting your visitors and a graphic can kliven up an otherwise dull page.

For sales page your graphics have to be very carefully thought about. Selling a traffic seminar may well be better without any graphics as the headlines, subheads and copy will be far more important.

Selling fishing tackle on the other hand, would no doubt benefit from showing the products and maybe a shot of a fisherman using the equipment.

The important thing to do is not to assume that graphic ara a must but to decide based on your site's purpose.

The third question to consider is this:
What Type of Graphics Should Be Included?

The three main common graphics you caGraphics fall into three major areas: header graphics, background graphics and order buttons.

Most certainly, the header graphic is going to be the most important. First impressions count and studies have shown that visitors decide to read on or to click to the back button within the first two seconds of seeing your page.

This means that your header graphic had better be a good one. If your header graphic is less than professional, it will be better to omit it altogether.

Backgrounds, these can change the whole mood of your site and can easily be changed to suit your goals. A crisp light blue executive background with a photo of your offices and support team may pull in more sales than a plain white background.

Another option is to use the subtle watermark type of background to support your sales message. Like a subliminal audio message, a repeated phrase only just visible can increase sales.

Order buttons are appropriate for those sites that sell products or services directly. Some online marketers do not use buttons for certain markets and use customized order links instead, however recognizable buttons, such as the paypal buy button can instill more confidence that a clickable wine bottle graphic.

So, by all means use graphics to spice upu your site, but make sure that they are fully harmonized with your purpose for the website in question.
