The One Mistake That Will Cost You a Fortune

In past articles, I have gone over many mistakes that affiliate marketers make that hurt their campaigns. But what's the one mistake that you can make as an affiliate marketer that will cost you the most amount of money? This question isn't as easy to answer as you'd think and quite honestly, I had to think long and hard before I came up with mine. Please note, this is just my opinion and you need to test this out for yourself. You may find other variables or more critical to your success. Okay, so what is it? What's the one thing that's going to cost you big time?

Not checking your links regularly.

I know. You're probably sitting there scratching your head right now thinking to yourself, "Huh?" Well let me tell you something...this one mistake can cost you a fortune. I am going to explain why with a true story that was told to me by a friend of mine who did just that...lost a fortune.

My friend had just hopped on this brand new product and he was promoting it as an affiliate. At the beginning, everything was absolutely fantastic. He was making sales on a regular basis. Then, suddenly, the sales stopped. At first, he figured it was just a dry spell so he didn't think anything of it. Then, after quite a bit of time had gone by, he started to panic. So he changed his ads. He also added other sources of promotion. Nothing was working though.

He was about to give up on the product when one day he thought to himself, maybe my link isn't working for some reason, though he couldn't imagine why. After all, he never changed it and it worked at the start. Well, he went to his blog and clicked on the link to go to the sales page and he got a 404 error. At first he thought that the site was down. But then, after doing some more digging, he discovered that the product owner had switched to a different affiliate system because the old one was giving him problems.

My friend got the new affiliate link, replaced the old one, restarted up his campaigns and sure enough, started making sales again.

Who knows how much money he lost because he didn't regularly check his links. If you're making sales everyday and suddenly you don't make any sales for a few days, check your links. You never know when something similar to this might just happen.

To YOUR Success,
